Tragic Fire Claims Lives of 6 Individuals in Italian Retirement Home

According to the AGI news agency, the victims of the incident were five women ranging in age from 69 to 87 years old, along with a 73-year-old man.

In Milan, a fire broke out at a retirement home during the early hours of Friday, resulting in the tragic loss of six lives, as confirmed by firefighters. Additionally, a significant number of residents were hospitalized due to the incident.

As mentioned by the fire brigade on Twitter, six individuals lost their lives, and numerous others were hospitalized due to smoke inhalation. The firefighters promptly evacuated the building, rescuing dozens of people.

According to an AFP photographer, two of the victims were observed being taken out from the three-storey building located in the southern part of the Italian city. The building reportedly accommodates 210 individuals.

As per the fire brigade, the exact cause of the fire has not been determined yet.

According to ANSA news agency, Milan Mayor Giuseppe Sala stated that the fire seemed to have originated in a room that housed two female residents, both of whom tragically lost their lives in the blaze.

Despite the fire being contained to that particular room, Milan Mayor Giuseppe Sala mentioned that the smoke claimed the lives of four additional residents and left two others in critical condition, struggling for survival.
