In West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district, the police saved an 8-month-old baby from Priyanka Ghosh, a Khardah resident.

According to a report in the Indian Express, a shocking incident unfolded in West Bengal where a couple sold their 8-month-old baby boy to afford an iPhone 14, aiming to create content for Instagram reels.

According to the Indian Express report, the couple in question, identified as Jaydev Ghosh and Sathi residing in West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas district, desired to purchase a high-end phone specifically for shooting reels on Instagram. After considering various options, they decided on Apple’s latest flagship model. The report also revealed that the couple has a seven-year-old daughter.

According to the outlet, the police successfully rescued the baby from Priyanka Ghosh, a resident of Khardah in the identical district. Both the boy’s mother and Ms. Ghosh, who allegedly paid for him, have been arrested. However, the infant’s father is currently on the run, and authorities are actively conducting a search to apprehend him.

The police officer, as quoted by Indian Express, stated that during the interrogation, the child’s mother confessed to the wrongdoing. She revealed that both she and her husband had planned to use the money from selling their baby to travel extensively within the state, intending to generate content for Instagram reels.

As per the authorities, there are allegations that the father also made an attempt to sell his daughter, but the scheme did not come to fruition.

Their neighbor, Laxmi Kundu, informed India Today that the agreement for the baby boy was settled at a price of ₹ 2 lakh. With the money obtained, the couple embarked on various excursions, including a honeymoon trip to Digha Sea Beach. They also used some of the funds to purchase a mobile phone, as per Laxmi Kundu’s statement to the outlet.
